Knowledge Base Management - Design

Purpose

The Design tab shows a visual map of the knowledge base structure so you can understand categories, fields, and overall data connections.

Diagram elements

  • Node: Represents one category.
  • Connection line: Represents category links.
  • Relationship tag: Summarizes configured relationships.

View controls

  • Auto layout: Rearranges the diagram automatically.
  • + / -: Zoom controls.
  • Fullscreen: Expand workspace.
  • Lock: Keep node positions fixed.

Relationship setup

Purpose

Relationships define logical links between categories so data can be queried with better context and accuracy.

Create a relationship

  1. Open the Design tab.
  2. Click Add relationship.
  3. Configure:
    • Source category (*)
    • Target category (*)
    • Relationship name (*)
    • Description
    • Relationship type (*): 1-1, 1-N, N-1, N-N
    • Source field, Target field (*)
  4. Click Create.

Notes

  • Use stable identifier fields for matching.
  • Keep relationship names short and business-specific (for example: Material belongs to System).
